Stimpson's Python Of Western Australia Antaresia stimsoni Pythons are non-venomous |
|
This was photographed at Armadale Reptile Centre in Perth. This is possibly the Antaresia stimsoni orientalis species. |
|
There are two subspecies; Antaresia stimsoni stimsoni They are small pythons
their body length is aprox .87m. This subspecies is
restricted to Western Australia extending from Perth north to Dampier
and in the south-west Kimberley region.

What do they eat? Pythons use their heat seeking pits to feel the warmth given off by other animals. Stimpson's pythons eat mostly mammals, lizards and in caves it eats bats. Pythons can eat large prey many times bigger than the size of their belly. No pythons are big enough to eat humans in Australia. Some pythons can also go without eating for around a year.

These photographs were taken of my daughter enjoying the snake at shopping centre and library displays in Perth. We do not know which subspecies they are. |
