Fraser's Delma Legless Lizard Delma fraseri Harmless |
|
These photographs were taken at Piney Lakes in a southern suburb of Perth just after sunset. |
|
This is one of the larger Delma Legless lizards. Its tail is 2-3 times the length of its body. The body length is approx 120mm. Found from Shark Bay in the north of Western Australia to Israelite bay in the south-east. |

It is cold tolerant meaning it tolerates cold conditions more than a lot of other reptiles. A subspecies Delma fraseri petersoni is also found in the south-west of Western Australia. I think this legless lizard can be diurnal or nocturnal depending on the temperature becoming more nocturnal on warm summer nights. It is often mistaken as a baby Dugite due to its black head. It moves from side to side like a snake. It is an egg laying reptile. It lays 2 eggs. |

What does it eat? Cockroaches, spiders, grasshoppers, moths, bugs and beetles. This is possibly a cockroach found at Piney Lakes in Perth where this Legless lizard has been seen. |
