Diplodactylus stenodactylus

There are 8 species in the Diplodactylus stenodactylus group.

They are found in central to northern Australia and in the arid southern areas such as the interior and north-west of WA.

They are approx 60mm in length from snout to vent.

They live in sand plains and stony habitats like we saw here in the Tanami, 143km east of Rabbit Flat.

This is the same gecko as the one above found in the Tanami Desert.

I didn't find this gecko to move particularly fast and it didn't mind being handled.  (If you ever handle a gecko let it walk onto your hand rather than grabbing its delicate body).

Come back soon  to see our video of this little gecko.

 What do they eat?

They feed on a variety of arthropods such as beetles and termites.  We found this beetle, well it found us by crash landing onto our table at night but I think its a little to big for this gecko to eat.
