The Eagles Heritage Raptor Wildlife Centre is at Boodjidup Road, off Bussell Highway, near Leeuwin Estate. Set in 29 acres of natural bushland it specialises in endangered species breeding, rehabilitation, and education. Birds of Prey are bought here from all over Australia when they have become sick, injured or orphaned. I went with my kids a couple of years ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration of the birds of prey catching food thrown into the air. The birds of prey were free to fly around, except for the one that they sit on your arm. For this you wear a glove and you must stay very still, even though it is a bit scary it is well worth it as you soon feel connected to this powerful bird. The person giving the demonstration was cheerful with a good sense of humour and loved doing his work there both as an educator and caregiver to the birds. They say they have the largest collection of birds of prey in Australia and I was impressed with the large flight aviaries. Don’t forget your camera and there are entrance fees.
