Lea's/Green-bellied Froglet
Geocrinia leai

(These gifs do not show what the frogs really look like.)

This is a small brown or yellowish frog with smooth skin.  The underside can be smooth and a pale green colour.  Males are 18-21mm from snout to vent and females 23-26 mm long.

They are found in the Southwest along the banks of streams and swamps.  I have heard these frogs but have not seen one even though I have climbed down pond and creek banks in the dark and stood right over their burrows.  I do not dig frogs up so maybe I will have to camp the night right next to the burrow.

What do these frogs eat?

Its not known what this frog feeds on possibly invertebrates ie insects.

The eggs are laid on the plants around the stream and when the water rises the the tadpoles fall into the water.
